The aim of the project is improvement of tool life by controlling of the tool geometry based on finite element simulation during cutting of small parts. Research equipment and measurement techniques for investigation of cutting dynamics at high spindle speeds have been developed. The method of roughness and vibration investigation during machining of frequency modulation of spindle rotation was also developed. It was shown that the modulation gives reduction of surface roughness during machining of flexible shafts. The software and hardware system and method for its use, which can diagnose and monitor the status of workpiece and tools system in real time were designed and tested.
