The object of study: medical aspects of road safety. Objectives: to develop methods of improving the system of medical provision of road safety in Ukraine. Research methods:- analytical, biochemical, clinical, psycho-physiological, interview, statistical. On the analysis of normative and methodological support of road safety medical aspects both in Ukraine and the world, the results of medical and psycho-physiological examination of drivers, the necessity of systematic approach to reduce the contribution of the "human factor" in road safety has been substantiated. The following regulations and guidance documents have been scientifically substantiated and drafted: the Concept of medical support for road safety in Ukraine; the Program of medical and social measures for the prevention of accidents in road transport adapted to international standards; amendments to the legal framework of health road safety movement in Ukraine, including the Procedure for medical examination of candidates for drivers and drivers of vehicles, the Regulation on the universal electronic database of health facilities with the right of examination of candidates for drivers and drivers of vehicles and medical certificates, List of medical contraindications for candidates for drivers and drivers of commercial and non-commercial vehicles. Implementation of this research results will have social efficiency and allows to preserve life and health of road traffic participants due to the decrease of accidents caused by "human error." Medical effectiveness consists in reduction of the incidence number and severity of chronic diseases due to their timely detection and use of preventive, medical and rehabilitative measures. Economical effectivity consists in reducing the costs of eliminating the consequences of the accidents, including medical treatment and pensions affected.
