Objective: on the basis of complex research to assess changes in labor conditions and characteristics of the labor process by using new technologies of dangerous dust-raising bulk, bulk and fumigated cargoes; to substantiate, work out and introduce the system of hygienic prophylactic measures for poisonings prevention, health and work-ability of transport workers keeping and environment protection from dust and chemical contanimation. Object of the study: dangerous dust-raising bulk, bulk fumigated goods, fertilizers, phosphine-containing fumigation drugs and their hazardous wastes, facilities and means of water, rail, road transport, job places, laboratory animals, experimental models. Contingents: dockers, the staff of specialized cargo handling terminals, grain and oil-extracting enterprises, workers of rail and road transport, marine fumigation units. Research methods: hygienic (microclimate parameters, indicators of contamination of workplaces and living areas with dust, vapors, gases, processed goods), toxicologic, social hygienic, including the questioning of employees (access to medical care), statistical. The authors have made a considerable amount of research work, which included laboratory tests and comprehensive hygienic assessment of 9 bulk hazardous overload and 8 fumigated bulk cargoes; full-scale analytical and hygienic study of 42 water sitesr (35 objects in the sea and river ports of Odessa, Ilyichevsk, Yuzhny, Mariupol, Svetlovodsk, Izmail, Kerch, as well as on ships bulk carriers), railway (5 projects in the port of the Dnieper-Bug, Nicka Terra, Kerch, Ilyichevsk at the railway station, the Dnieper-Bug, Znamenka - wana-hoppers, gondolas, rail tank cars) and automotive (2 projects of transport in the city of Kirovograd - heavy vehicles and road trains). For the first time in hygienic practice it is justified and developed a set of preventive hygiene measures, including a scheme of dust control through the introduction of phased reconstruction, sanitation and hygiene technical and technological solutions. For the first time the development of new safety equipment for emergency protection of packaging cardboard boxes fumigating toxic chemicals and hazardous waste containers during their raid of the vessels of the port fleet.
