Causes of additional errors of gas temperature measurement and subsequent errors of gas flow rate and volume measurement are defined. Based on the experimental data the heat exchange between the thermometer case and the pipe wall in natural gas metering systems was studied. The influence of inertia of the thermometer on the accuracy of natural gas metering in pulse modes was studied. The change of temperature of natural gas during its flow through a rotary gas meter was investigated. Mathematical models of gas temperature measurement errors caused by the inertia of the thermometer in pulse modes of gas flow and caused by the heat exchange between the gas flow and the body of the rotary gas meter are developed. The influence of the gas temperature measurement error on the accuracy of natural gas volume measurement by means of various metering systems was analyzed. Measures are proposed to minimize and eliminate the errors of gas temperature measurement and the subsequent errors of gas volume measurement in the metering system installed at heat generating plants.
