Purpose of the research: to outline the range of theoretical and practical issues related to the development and introduction of principles and criteria for determining the types of organizations – the National Archival Holdings formation sources; to imply approaches to compile the specific lists of organizations types that are and are not the NAH formation sources; to promote the archives efficiency concerning the quality of replenishment of their holdings with the document that have scientific and practical value and at the same time to prevent the receipt of the documents of the second nature. Methods of the research – classification, typological, comparative analysis, structural-systemic, structural-functional analysis. Scientifically grounded «Guidelines for the Preparation of Sample Lists ...» will be one of the key tools in the work of archivists to optimize the composition and content of the NAH, creating informative source base in the context of determining the structure of holdings formation sources in state archives by socially significant documents that are created in the activities of legal entities – state enterprises, institutions and organizations. The Guidelines are focused on helping archives in determining the types and varieties of modern organizations in Ukraine – the NAH formation sources, their structure in the context of current organization bases of the branch system and hierarchical relationships between organizations. Implementation of the Guidelines will ensure unification of approaches to improve the formation system of the NAH by socially significant documents based on specified by typological feature sample lists of state enterprises, institutions and organizations that are and are not the NAH formation sources and to develop by archival institutions their own, most specified lists of state enterprises, institutions and organizations that generate the NAH formation.
