As a result of first stage of the project fulfillment bio-compatible porous SiC ceramics were studied. The ceramics were synthesized from wood different types. Surface morphology, porosity, and pore size distribution were investigated. Besides, the gas detonation deposition method was used to form bio-compatible GAP and GAP/ ZrO2 coatings onto SiC ceramics. It was established that porosity and pore size distribution depend on type of wood. Application of bio-compatible and bio-active GAP and GAP/ ZrO2 coatings onto SiC ceramics improved biocompatibility with cell culture compared to uncoated ceramics.
