Additional use of low (1/4 therapeutic) doses of anticancer drugs together with this diet leads to a complete tumor remission in these animals. Therapeutic effect of diet in vivo is caused by inhibition of glycolysis in tumor cells and activation of oxidative phosphorylation, leading to a sharp increase in the level of reactive oxygen species and subsequent induction of mitochondrial-type apoptosis, leading to death of target cells. The obtained results indicate on significant promise of application of the proposed tumor chemotherapy scheme in clinical practice.
