It was shown that C60 conjugates with anticancer drugs doxorubicin and cisplatin had shown high efficiency of their cytotoxic action in vitro towards cancer cell lines with different mechanisms of drug resistance. The main reason of this phenomenon is accelerated entry of these drugs into target cells by their directed delivery of fullerene C60. This leads to a more rapid induction of apoptosis, and also is one of the factors involved in circumventing of acquired resistance of tumor cells to chemotherapy treatment by studied nanocomposites. The results of this study are published in one article in prestigious peer-reviewed journal. (Journal of Biomedical Nanotechnology).
