The aim is achieved by means of NMR, IR, electronic, atomic force, XRD and quantum chemical (semiempirical and ab initio) calculations. Novelty - Dyes with high fluorescence quantum yield and Stokes shifts was designed and synthesized. The approaches were developed to create the series of dyes with their structural rigidity, electronic asymmetry, intramolecular charge transfer, electronic structure within the boundary conditions - neutral polyene, polymethine, bipolar polyene - smoothly changed. In the course of dyes design the structural aspects were taken into account to inhibit their aggregation effectively. We also study the possibility of blocking aggregation and reabsorption reducing by addition calixarene molecules capable of binding counterions or various fragments of the dyes molecules in its cavity. Polymer compositions were created with high photoconductivity in the red and near-IR spectrum range. Luminescent and photovoltaic properties of the dyes in liquid solutions and polymer matrices were studied thoroughly. The synthetic methods for the most promising dyes and calixarenes were worked out. The techniques of producing dye-doped polymer matrices were elaborated. The corresponding matrices were produced both as free films and as sandwich structures with spray-coated electrical contacts. The energies of HOMO and LUMO were analyzed quantum-chemically. The 1H and 13C NMR spectra of the dyes were investigated in both low-polar and polar solvents. We studied the correlation between the calculated charge (electronic density) values and the experimental chemical shifts. At the final stage of the work the results were epitomized in the form of the report, 20 papers and 1 patents. There were also developed the compositions for LSC and solar cells. Physicochemical studies and the elucidation of the structure of dyes and calixarenes have been conducted with the spectroscopic (NMR, electronic absorption and luminescence spectroscopy, IR, mass spectrometry, XRD, atomic force spectroscopy, nonlinear optical laser spectroscopy, etc.) and quantum-chemical methods (semiempirical and ab initio). The laws were revealed linking the value of photovoltaic response to the nature of the polymer and the structure of polymethine dyes (ionic type, polymethine chain length, terminal groups, nature of a counterion). Contrary to the published data, it was shown that an anion of cationic polymethine dyes can significantly affect the photovoltaic characteristics of polymer photovoltaic cells based on them. This influence is due to the possibility of photo-induced electron transfer in the contact ion pairs. The probability of such a transfer is determined by the RedOx potential of the counterion. It is shown that cationic and intraionic polymethines can be applied for the polymeric photovoltaic structures both as a scavenger, and as an additive that enhances optical absorption band. A new effect in organic photovoltaic, viz. photocurrent hysteresis, war revealed. It war shown to spring from the local electric fields which are opposite to the direction of the external electric field.
