Subject: basic principles, procedures, requirements, methodology for activities and technologies for the National Archival Holdings’ documents stocktaking. Purpose of the research: to finalize the draft instruction «Documents Stocktaking in National Archives of Ukraine» (hereinafter – the Instruction) pursuant to accomplish p. 7 in the Order of the State Archival Service of Ukraine from 29.04.2013 No 62 considering the requirements of current regulatory-legal acts regulating the state stocktaking of the National Archival Holdings’ documents. Objectives of the research: 1) on the analysis and remarks from archival institutions to the draft of the sample instruction «Documents Stocktaking in National Archives of Ukraine», presented during its approbation to identify issues of modern stocktaking practice of the NAH documents and determine ways to solve it in the provisions of the Instruction; 2) to agree the provisions of the Instruction with «The Terms for the Activity of Archival Institutions of Ukraine», approved by the Order of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine from 08.04.2013 No 656/5, (hereinafter – The Terms for the Activity of Archival Institutions of Ukraine), «The Procedure for State Stocktaking of the National Archival Holdings Documents» approved by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine form 27.09.2013 No 2045/5 (hereinafter – The Procedure for State Stocktaking of the National Archival Holdings Documents); 3) to specify the composition and forms of the main and auxiliary stocktaking documents of the archives; 4) to provide the explanation of methodology for activities and technologies for the National Archival Holdings documents stocktaking. Methodology of the research: general scientific principles (scientific objectivity, historicism, consistency, verification); general scientific methods (historical, logical, system-structural, structural-functional, analysis and synthesis, abstraction, modelling, classification); special-scientific methods (problem-chronological, comparative, typological, retrospective, statistical); basic principles and methods of archival study (principle of comprehensiveness and complexity, principle of origin, method of functional analysis, structural method, method of single archival documents stocktaking). The Instruction, prepared in the course of research work (hereinafter – the research), contains 6 chapters and appendices. Chapters considered legal, organizational, scientific and methodological principles of the NAH documents stocktaking in state archives of Ukraine. Practical implementation of the Instruction is predetermined by the need to regulate mutually agreed complex of administrative, organizational, scientific-methodological, control and security measures on documents stocktaking of fond and non-fond organization in state archives of Ukraine.
