The objects of the study were children of both genders in the age of 5 to 7 years with a delay of psychoverbal development (DPVD) and other neurological disorders. The purpose of the research was to examine the role of chronic infections caused by different Herpesviridae, in the genesis of psychoverbal development delay, and formation of mental retardation in children at different ages; to develop the methods for diagnosis, prevention and treatment. Based on the feed-back of virologic investigations it was determined the role of herpes virus infections in forming of psychoverbal development delay in children. The antiviral and immunomodulating therapy had been held for 37 children with delayed psychoverbal development and having the signs of herpes infection activity. After the complex therapy it was observed the improvement of cognitive functions in 70% of cases.
