These coatings formed by means of ion-plasma method, which is implemented using vacuum-arc and atomic ion ways to create a flow of plasma. The structure, phase composition, mechanical characteristics, in particular, microhardness, cavitations resistance, corrosion fatigue strength steels and coatings were done. The relationship between the cavitation resistance and microhardness of titanium and chromium coatings was shows. The influence of the coating process on the properties of the hardened layer was studied. Designed experiments allowed to move to the next phase of the combined erosion protection.
