Subject of the research - organizational forms of research activity in the left-bank Ukraine and the Black Sea in the first half of the twentieth century. The purpose of the work - the study of the evolution of research and engineering activities in the left-bank Ukraine and the Black Sea on the model of the organization of such activities, which are mainly based on the results of the critical analysis of the research of predecessors and their own research selected number of areas of scientific and engineering activities and their organizational forms. Methods of the research - the research is based on the principles of historicism, objectivity and systematic. There are applied as general scientific research methods (analysis, synthesis, logic, statistics, generalization), and specially-historical ones (historical, chronological, historical, comparative, historical and genetic and other). It was found that the organization form of the research in the study area in the first half of the twentieth century under the influence of socio-economic conditions have changed and acquired a new look, a new organizational design. They passed a complex evolutionary path that ended with the establishment of research institutes in the Academy of Sciences and in different sectors of the economy. We studied and analyzed the process of changing the institutional forms of organization of scientific and engineering activity in the left-bank Ukraine and the Black Sea at different stages of it. We identified and analyzed organizational forms of radiological health, statistical and demographic, geochemical investigations in the pre-Soviet and Soviet periods. We considered the following key for each of the periods of organizational research forms, such as scientific and technical societies, laboratories, research institutes and other organizational forms. The model of organization of such activities, which are mainly based on the results of the critical analysis of the research of predecessors and their own research selected number of areas of scientific and engineering activities, their organizational forms.
