This has involved traditional zoological methods and statistical analysis)The current status of populations and communities of different groups of animals (herpetofauna, avifauna, the insect fauna), the distribution, abundance, habitat preferences of a number of animal species, including the red-and indicator, was explored on the major natural areas of Ukraine. In particular, gerpetogeographic complexes and communities of amphibians and reptiles were examined in the north-eastern part of Ukraine and adjacent areas, and the genesis of the herpetofauna of these regions, the estimation of the current state of community and individual species of amphibians and reptiles was studied. Fenetic analysis of population diversity wide-spread lizard species allowed us to establish the landscape-ecological aspects of intraspecific variation, to determine the population structure of the background and assess the current state of geographic populations of these species in the territory of Ukraine. Data on tsikadofauna, geteropterofauna and karabidofauna of virgin steppe reserve "Askania Nova" was accepted. The relationship of species richness and diversity of these insects given their abundance and biomass according such series as feather grass steppe, fescue prairie, grass-forb steppes, was analyzed. The overgrowing of Kanev and Kiev water reservoirs watershallow by the communities of aquatic plants was studied, the basic laws of this process and changes in plant communities was determined. The effect of such changes on the successional present state, distribution, and some of the environmental features of alien colonial waterbird species was explored.
