We have investigated the influence of the chemical composition of a material and its processing parameters (synthesis techniques and conditions, heat treatment, etc) on the level of functional properties in the microwave range. New microwave materials with the enhanced functional characteristics were based on the complex perovskites Ba(M1/3Nb2/3)O3 (М - Mg, Co, Zn) with nano-domainn structure, ordered tetragonal bronzes Ba6-xLn8+2x/3Ti18O54 (BLT), structured polycrystalline composites based on magnesium compounds (Mg2TiO4, MgTiO3) and barium (BaTi4O9, BaZn2Ti4O11), as well as hetero-structures based on ferroelectric solid solutions Ag(Nb1-xTax)O3 та Ba(Zr1-xTix)O3. The investigation has allowed the development of the technology for materials with high functional characteristics for communications devices of different types and frequency ranges. As the result, pilot-scale series of dielectric components (dielectric resonators, nonlinear capacitors - varactors) have been produced and tested in the radar and communications equipment like Solid State heterodynes, radio microwave filters, etc.. Test results denote the potential of the further utilization of developed materials and components in modern equipment for wireless communications and radars.
