The resulting materials described by SEM, AFM, IR and solid-state NMR spectroscopy, studied their structural and adsorption characteristics. The vision about surface of the structure of hybrid organic-inorganic materials is developed based on physical methods. It is shown that in the case of functionalized polisiloxane and polysilsesquioxane xerogels and mesoporous silica surface layer in their present structural units of the same composition and structure of the surface has a similar character. The influence of the nature and value of reacting alkoxysilanes the degree of hydrophobicity of these materials and their porous structure is established. The high sorption capacity of the synthesized materials on heavy metal ions, REE, uranyl ion and the factors that affect the structure and stability of complexes formed in the surface layer during the sorption process are studied.
