The aim of the work - to allocate at variety testing and production verification high yielding mid-early hybrid of watermelon. Develop a method of selection of plastic lines of watermelon and methodical recommendations on the heterotic breeding. Research methods: breeding (hybridization, ?ncuht, selection), visual, statistical. In the examination of the State Veterinary and phytosanitary service of Ukraine passed a hybrid F1 Mulat. New hybrid Mulat F1 is created by the method of hybridization of the line L-1 (maternal form) and line L-TO3 (paternal form). Indicators regression of parental components of L-1/L-TO3 are 0.97/1.10 accordingly. Research conducted with the ?ncuht lines of the past years of high level of combining ability. In the nursery inbred lines in 9 agroclimatic artificial backgrounds studied 60 lines of watermelon in indicators of plasticity and stability. Selected 15 plastic lines (bi 0.83-1.10). Selected lines are attracted to hybridization works. Studied adaptive ability and stability standards, the best hybrids and their parent components, including maternal and parental components of hybrid Mulat F1. Conducted a study of a hybrid F1 Mulat in nursery competitive test (2014-2015 years). New hybrid Mulat F1 highly plastic (bi = 0.99), for years the test formed stable commodity yields 32.7 - 35.6 t/ha. The F1 hybrid Mulat of commodity yield significantly exceeded the standard Obriy F1 on 8.9 t/ha or 36% and was at the level of a hybrid foreign selection Topgan F1. By сontent of dry substances exceeded standards on 3.4 and 2.5%. Hybrid differed unanimous payment of crop, resistance to sunburn fruit and stems, resistance to diseases. The yearly economic effect - 11.5 thousand USD. per 1 ha of sowing. Into national centre of genetic resources plants of Ukraine transferred new line of watermelon L-1, which features a homogeneity (100%), earlier maturation (68 days), plasticity on indicators of productivity (bi = 0.97), high taste qualities (8.5 points), high сontent of dry substances in the fruit (10.6%), number of registration of UL-3900557.Developed and presented to the Ukrainian Institute of intellectual property in the application for the patent "Method of breeding of the plastic lines and hybrids of watermelon" (№ application u 2015 10529 from 28.10.2015).
