The aim of the task is the creation of collections of samples of the gene pool of melon plants (pumpkin, melon, watermelon), the selection and study of varietal samples at a certain level of phenotypic expression of individual characters or their combination to create the attributive collections of different direction of the use in breeding in the steppe zone of Ukraine, the enrichment of the collection of genetic diversity by the new models of the near and far abroad. The methods of research are field and laboratory methods with the use of guidelines. The collection of melon plants (pumpkin, melon, watermelon) has been form. The main directions of the study of samples of genetic diversity in the conditions of northern Steppe of Ukraine were the introduction of new domestic and foreign models, the assessment of morphological characteristics and economic value of the collection material, the allocation of sources of valuable features and the grade-standards. Thr assessment of morphological features has been spent. The grade-standards have been determined on the basis of the plant. There are no analogues in Ukraine.
