It allows to isolate high-purity metal (99.9%) with a high recovery rate (not less than 76%) and low unit cost of electricity and reagents. The essence of the develop created is zirconium dioxide in dispersed state on reduced gallium cathode at a current density of 0.3-1.2 A / cm2, a melt of the following composition, wt.%: 2,0-20,0 calcium oxide; sodium chloride 2,0-50,0; calcium chloride - the rest. The developed process can be used to reduce other oxides of refractory metals (titanium, niobium, molybdenum, etc.) and making powder compositions based on them. Based on the developed process can be created zirconium production in Ukraine from domestic raw materials.
