Some aspects of the environmental conditions in habitats and population parameters of the species were determined. It was found that the species is characterized by a considerable fragmentation of habitats and this, together with the specific local ecological conditions, can affect the features of the distribution of genetic diversity. The primer informativeness was determined and effective PCR-based markers were selected for the assessment of genetic diversity and genetic structure in populations of D. antarctica. For D. antarctica and I. pumila, the features were determined and the conditions were developed of germination in vitro, micropropagation, as well as callus induction and plant regeneration from different types of explants, and long-term culture of callus tissues.
