For Iris pumila from different locations on the territory of Ukraine, the diploid number was found to be 2n = 32. The differences were found between the studied populations of the species in the level of mixoploidy, as well as in the percentage of aneuploid cells and the percentage of anaphase aberrations. Molecular-genetic analysis using PCR markers showed significant differences in the genetic structure between two species. The differences revealed at the levels of within and between population variation that can be evidence for a significantly greater isolation and divergence of populations of G. lutea compared to I.pumila. For I. pumila, the genomic sequences were found, the frequency of which in populations is correlated with the climatic parameters of habitats.
