Purpose of work - to identify the best examples of alfalfa on a range of different morphobiological and economic characteristics and create a variety of alfalfa with a high level of efficiency and nitrogen fixation. Research methods - laboratory, vegetation-field, the field - for the study of the genetic potential of the feed and seed production, adaptive properties of the samples under irrigation. To create a new breeding material of alfalfa were conducted artificial interbreeding and created two nursery polycross. In the study of the morphological structure of the root system, nitrogen-fixing activity marked the best plants, the population in order to include them in the further selection process. In various nurseries in the feed and seed production marked the best examples. In the control nursery dry matter yields ranged from 1.98 to 2.29 kg/m2 is exceeded the standard variety Unitro to 10.6-27.9%. The competitive strain testing of feed use in the stands of the second year of life formed a high number of dry matter yield in the range 15.9-17.8 t/ha, which is higher than the standard variety Unitro on 6.0-18.7%. In breeding nurseries yield seeds in room ranged from 0.39 to 0.51 t/ha with a yield of standard varieties Unitro 0.28 t/ha. In seed production in competitive strain testing the maximum seed yield (0.30 t/ha) has formed a population of D. M.g., which exceeded the standard variety Unitro 20.0%. During the reporting period (2011-2015 years - three cycles of testing) the best indicators of the main agronomic traits characterized population D. M.g., with dry matter yield average of 15.5 t/ha, the maximum 17.4 t/ha, seed production 0.44-0.53 t/ha, which is called Louise transferred to the state variety trials in 2015. The variety of alfalfa Nadezhda 2 passes state variety trials. Developed by: 1. Total in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine is 9 varieties of alfalfa breeding Institute of irrigated agriculture, which breed in Kherson, Nikolaev, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk and Lugansk regions, according to the license agreements. In pre-breeding nurseries grown seeds of high reproductions (DB): Zoriana - 0.5 t Unitro - 0.35 t, Nadezda - 0.5 t, Seraphima - 0.1 t.
