Ethyl esters of mustard oil have been synthesized using a homogeneous catalyst. Bench tests of mixtures of the latter with oil diesel fuel on diesel tractor engine have been held. It has been found that the investigated fuels demonstrate acceptable power-economic engine performance. Exhaust gases in the case of mixed fuels exhibit a lower content of mono- carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and less smoke and very low concentrations of unburned fragments of molecules, which do not exist in mixtures of 40-100 % biofuels.
