The object of research is the ultra-thin lubricant film squeezed between two solid surfaces uneven . Methods: methods of nonequilibrium thermodynamics, evolutionary theory of phase transitions and the theory of elasticity , methods of computational mathematics. It is studied friction processes between two uneven surfaces based on the model of phase transitions of the first order, using a simple mechanical analogue of the tribological system with elasticity, which works in the boundary mode in the presence of the layer of lubricant between surfaces. It is considered an intermittent (stick-slip) motion mode, which arises due to periodic phase transitions between kinetic friction modes . It is shown that in the presence of surface irregularities in the motion in the plane of friction domain structure is realized, which changes with time and is characterized by the spatial distribution of the values of the order parameter. Based on the model of phase transitions of the first order and taking into account the spatial inhomogeneity, the processes of boundary friction of two atomically smooth solid surfaces are studied, in the presence of ultra-thin layer of lubricant therebetween. It is shown that during the moving the lubricant tends to take on slip plane uniform structure , which leads to frequency dependency of the time of the main parameters in the discontinuous mode.
