Develop the principles and methods of breeding with aim to create varieties of winter triticale specialized for process of the bioethanol production, which was characterized by a high content of starch in grain and high efficiency of its transformation into bioethanol.Research methods. The research was carried out by conventional methods of field trials and by using of improved methods of biochemical analysis of grain.The research results and their novelty. Established breeding and genetic criteria that are relevant creating the source material for varieties of the alcohol distillate directions of grain use: yield, starch content, seed size, protein content, linear dimensions of the starch granules and resistance of granules to mechanical damage, the ratio of amylose/amylopectin, and ethanol yield from a unit mass of starch. Were developed model of variety of winter triticale and methodical recommendations of winter triticale breeding for the alcohol distillate direction of technological use of grain for Polissia and Northern Forest-steppe of Ukraine. Application on the variety of winter triticale Patriot was filed in State Service for the protection of plant varieties of Ukraine No. 15022001 from 17.03.2015.Released lines of competitive variety trials №421-424, №425, №429-432, №433-434, which yields (7.6-7.9 t/ha) significantly exceeded standard variety (7.0-7.1 t/ha). The starch content of these numbers was at the level of or inferior standards.Selected the best lines of the preliminary variety trials average yield and starch content: No. 526-531 (9.2 t/ha, or 68.5%), No. 547-548 (9.3 tons/ha, or 69.5%), No. 550 (at 8.8 t/ha, 69.8%), No. 519-521 (9.1 tons/ha, 69.4%), which significantly exceeded the standard varieties on relevant characteristics. Founded a stable line №255, 273, 223 (S. Molfar, AD 206 / 152 EN // PEG) with yield of alcohol from 1 ton of meal for two years on an average of 372.7-422.0l L which are a valuable as in initial material for the efficient transformation of starch into bioethanol. Obtained and partially analyzed F2 hybrids of triticale/waxy wheat and triticale/wheat crosses. Were determined the mode of inheritance of some characteristics of these hybrids. We revealed the differentiation of the samples of winter triticale by starch grains size. It is established that the samples have a substantial and significant difference in the average size of starch grain at considerable variance.
