The aim of research: studying of features, problems of social and economic development of Ukraine in the conditions of entry into The European Economic Area and justification of the necessary prefaces and ways of realization of this process. To realize the aim the following tasks were solved: state regulation of social and economic development of regions is studied; the world experience of social and economic development of regions is investigated; tendencies of social and economic development of the enterprises of the region, condition of financial and economic activity of the industrial enterprises of the country and problems of their management, development and restoration of tourism and rest, intellectual (including personnel) potential of the region were analyzed. Today in practice in Ukraine financial and material resources, which are aimed at the development of regions, are used inefficiently. Besides, not correctly constructed control system leads to divergences of interests of subjects of managing. Majority of regions isn't able to solve their social and economic problems independently which causes need of intervention in their activity. Methods of research: comparative analysis, systematization and generalization, classification and comparison, forecasting, system and complex analysis. As a result of realization of research work, is planned to offer ways of improvement of quality of management of social and economic development of the state and regions.
