The object of investigation is the literature of Western Europe, the USA and Russia in the historical and cultural perspective. The research is aimed at characterising the literary and cultural correlation both from historical perspective and within historical dynamics; at introducing less known literary works subject to scholarly discussion into the sphere of literary studies. The research methods applied comprise: genetic-historical, comparative, typological, socio-cultural, imagological and that of receptive aesthetics. The results of the research can be applied within academic process for various educational purposes, i.e. for raising awareness and understanding of numerous literary-cultural interrelations. The scientific contribution to the field is determined by the following: 1) modern terminology in the field of literary work reception and interpretation within historical and cultural context clarified and systematized; 2) means and approaches to representing historically determined cultural context in the generic paradygm of national literatures identified; 3) the conceptual sphere of literature and culture of various cultural and historical stages explored. Efficiency of implementation: number of theses defended within the framework of research project: 5 doctoral theses, including: Rodny O. V., 2013, the theme is "The Renaissance Philosophy and Carnival Culture of the Age: the Verges of Dialogue"; Romanova O.I., 2013, the theme is "Discourse of Love in Russian Literature of XVIII-XX cent."; 18 Ph.D theses, including: Veligina N. G., 2013, the theme is "Julian Barnes' Prose within the Context of Postmodern Generic Experiments of the 1980-20ies"; Kluyiko G. S., 2014, the theme is "Retro-Detective Novel in Postmodern Generic System: Comparative Aspect"; Vlasenko N. I., 2015, the theme is "The Problem of Genesis of the English Renaissance Novel". Implementation Sphere: to be implemented within order to raise professional competences of students majoring in Philology.
