Goal is to ascertain relationships of nanoporosity formation during transformation of brown coal (BC) into active carbon under alkali activation. Research methods: thermolysis of BC and its mixtures with alkalis, IR-spectroscopy, determination of porosity characteristics by low temperature (77 К) adsorption of nitrogen. A thermolysis of BC and its mixtures with hydroxides МОН (М=Li, Na, K) for thermo programmed heating (4 oC/min) and heat shock. Two areas of maximum rates of coal thermodestruction reactions are identified. The first one coincides with area of main thermal destruction (300-500°С) of BC itself and is independent on alkali metal. The second one (600-800°С)is responsible for porosity development and is sensitive to alkali nature. The maximum thermodestruction rate and porosity development increase in the series LiОН < NaОН< KОН and shift to low temperature region (from 850 to 750°C). Relationships of porosity characteristics from activation conditions are determined under varying alkali nature, activation temperature (400-800°С), and alkali/coal ratio (?1,0 g/g). It allows to optimize preparation of brown coal nanoporous materials. Results obtained are aimed on optimizing preparation of nanoporous carbon adsorbents for usage as supercapacitor electrode materials.
