Direct positive effect of plant diversity on the total storage of biomass within the ecosystem is confirmed. Positive impact of plant species richness on ecosystem activity of energy and matter processing is shown. Current study demonstrates that ecosystems with low plant diversity have higher level of energy loss, indicating the negative impact of plant diversity loss on energy use efficiency in the ecosystem. The results show that the negative impact of diversity loss on the ecosystem functioning are facilitated by decrease in the complexity of trophic network organization.
