The study is based on a new system of linear evaluation of the type of animal dairy cow, meet the European requirements. The aim of the research is to assess the type of animal cows of Ukrainian red- and black-speckled milk breeds and the creation of an information base selection and appointment that is necessary to obtain accurate, objective data, assessment sires and evaluation of individual cows leading selection groups, facilitates the appraisal and establishing the breeding value of the breeding herds. Technological, zootechnical and physiological studies were conducted according to standard methods in accordance with the requirements of operating normative documents of Ukraine. The use of modern methods of classification of cows increases the information content, an improved estimation of breeding herds that comply with the international standards linear classification of animals. The generated information database of a selection of destination: the linear evaluation of the type of the body structure of animals in 317 cows-heifers of Ukrainian red-speckled milk breed and 257 cows-heifers of the Ukrainian black-speckled milk breed; at birth, milk production, fat content and protein content in milk - 585 cows of the Ukrainian red-speckled milk breed and 285 cows of the Ukrainian black-speckled milk breed leading breeding farms of Vinnytsa region, that provides accurate, objective data facilitates the appraisal and establishing the breeding value of animals, allows more intensively to carry out work aimed at consolidation of herds, and improve the technological properties of cows.
