Purpose - to explore the morphological and biological characteristics of cryopreserved semen of bulls in conditions for long-term storage in liquid nitrogen to preserve the gene pool of cattle. Methods: zootechnical (research fertilizing ability of sperm), morphological (abnormal forms of sperm, acrosome status), morphometric (size pieces spermatozoon’s), genealogy (breeding of), biometric (analysis of quality indicators of sperm) and economic. According to the research, was developed a way to improve the performance and motility of sperm fertilizing ability of bulls, whose essence is unfreezing straws on 65-70 deegrees Celsius temperature range and duration of exposure for 6-7 seconds. Economic efficiency sperm of dozes by this method (when insemination of 100 heads) is 2300 UAH. Implementation of the research design reduces the duration interval between calving by 3.3% and a profit of 900 UAH per cow per year. Found that resistance to freeze of sperm depends on the age of the bulls, with defrosted granules in motility rates are lower in bulls from the age of 2-5 years. Determined that semen long-term storage has higher levels of motility and survival if defrost straw by proposed method, and data obtained in the term of storage 10-20 years are reliable. Found that dairy bulls productivity with term of storage of sperm 10-45 years on average observed significantly higher levels of RFM, ASR and average velocity of sperm bulls than in other areas of performance. It was established that during long-term storage (10-45 years old) bull sperm tended to decrease physiological (HOST, ASR, % live sperm) and morphological parameters (% pathological forms, the percentage of intact acrosome). Sperm of some Carpathian brown bulls, Simmental, Ukrainian gray and breed Charolais on the term of storage of 31-45 years had the lowest motility rates (less than 4 points), survival (less than 4 hours), ASR (less than 12 conv. units.) and high number pathological forms (over 23%). Correlation and regression analysis showed of the dependence between morphological and biological parameters of sperm and the term of storage. Were built the most reliable and accurate regression models that can be used to predict changes in sperm quality during long-term storage in liquid nitrogen.
