The methods: pathophysiological, chemical, biochemical, cytomorphologic, morphometric, clinical, statistical. The experiments were held with 119 white rats; 38 women-volunteers took part in clinical investigations. 3 preparations of polyphenols from herbs - Equisetum arvense, Polygonum aviculare, anthracenederivatives from Hypericum perforatum were worked out in laboratory. 2 new easily derived simulations of the experimental periodontitis with subgingival introduction of lydase and exogenic collagenase were elaborated. At the simulation of periodontitis the degradation of intercellular matrix - the shortening of the contents of glycosamineglycanes, collagen and the destruction of glycoproteins were observed in periodontal tissues. The preparations of polyphenols Equisetum arvense and Polygonum aviculare displayed protective effect; they restored disorders, caused by periodontitis simulation. The preparation of anthracene-derivatives from Hypericum perforatum reconstructed the state of periodontal osseous tissue of old she-rats. The preparation from polyphenols of from Hypericum perforatum increased the contents of oxiproline in rats' periodontal tissues, in osseous tissue - the level of glycosamineglycanes and magnesium ions, reduced considerably the damages at the surface of the epithelial layer of cheek mucous membrane, increased the number of actively dividing cells. The preparations of polyphenols of herbs of Equisetum arvense, Polygonum aviculare, Hypericum perforatum have anti-inflammatory, capillary-strengthening and periodontoprotective effect upon the periodontal tissues of women with hypo- and hyperestrogeny.
