As a result of work on the project: -shows that the use of converters of metal Gd, with a record high thermal neutron capture cross-section is a perspective direction of research; -performed of simulation of a nuclear reaction Gd (n, gamma + e-) in GEANT4; -modeling of transport and neutron scattering using the software package GEANT4; -performed design module for recording the thermal neutron detection system based on uncooled detector and silicon planar metal gadolinium converter; -Si planar detector is installed vertically in the housing and secured with the two faces of the dielectric using a special form that provides access from all sides of the radiation; -made of research sample modules for detection of thermal neutron detectors the size of the working area of 2x2 mm2 and 5x5 mm2, the size of the working area of the detectors determines the spatial resolution of the spectrometer; -studied registration of electrons and low energy radiation, which allows to measure the conversion electrons and CXR by the reaction Gd (n, gamma + e-) Si planar semiconductor detectors; -performed background measurements for two samples of size modules, found that detecting units have a low noise level (~ 100 counts / day).
