A bioengineering technology of manufacturing novel chitinous fibrous materials from fungus Fomes fomentarius biomass has been elaborated. The work was carried out on preparation of scientific, technical and regulatory documents to the state registration dossiers for dressings based on fungal chitin. The raw material was characterized in detail according to the requirements to herbal medicines of the Pharmacological Center of Ministry of Health of Ukraine. A technological instruction on harvesting fruiting bodies of the fungus for industrial processing was prepared. Methods of processing raw material, its purification and standardization were worked out. A new technology of drying the material was developed that allowed to dehydrate polysacharides of the cell wall without abrupt deterioration of their mechanical properties. The protocol was determined for identification of chitin, glucans and melanins. The experimental device was made for manufacturing sheet chitinous dressings. The new production technology of chitin-containing dressings is simple and inexpensive.
