Vakhitova, Registration Date 08-02-2016 Organization The L.M.Litvinenko Institute of Physical-Organic Chemistry and Coal Chemistry popup.description2 The subjects of investigation: montmorillonite nanocompounds with guanidine, melamine, quaternary ammonium cations and silver ions. The research purpose is development of methods for producing modified montmorillonite by using as raw material bentonite clay of Dashukovskoye deposit (Cherkasy region). The research methods: identification of the produced compounds and study of their properties were obtained using the methods of IR spectroscopy and derivatographic analysis; determination of elemental composition of the mineral compounds was used the method of X-ray fluorescence analysis. The study of physicochemical properties and the bentonite clay structure, the basic characteristics of clay (swelling, gelling, cation exchange capacity) were carried out. Stepwise procedure for producing modified montmorillonite from natural bentonite clay was developed: laundering of bentonite rock, extracting montmorillonite from it, converting it in the Na-form, interaction of montmorillonite with guanidine, melamine, and quaternary ammonium cations and silver ions. The structure and thermal conversions of the modified montmorillonite in the temperature range 20- 700 °C were investigated by IR spectroscopy and derivatographic analysis. The obtained derivatives of montmorillonite were used for producing intumescent fire retardant paints, which will be tested in the parameters of retardant efficiency, bacterial resistance and operation life.Scientific novelty of the results: bentonite clay of Dashukovskoye deposit was investigated as raw material for nanocomposites produce; modification of montmorillonite with guanidine, melamine, quaternary ammonium cations and silver ions by cation exchange in the form of Na-montmorillonite was performed. The practical significance of the work is in the fact that the possibility of using of bentonite clay of local deposits was demonstrated to produce modified montmorillonite, the production of which is absent in Ukraine. The use of modified clays as multifunctional additives can simultaneously improve flame retardant efficiency, environmental properties and performance characteristics of materials and coatings of intumescent type.
