The purpose was to select the appropriate theoretical basis for the use of admixtures, the chemical nature of which was capable to provide compatibility in the system "alkaline cement - chemical admixture" and its experimental verification. Research methods: physical and chemical methods (X-ray phase analysis, isothermal calorimetry, method of determining the chemical shrinkage), physical and mechanical methods for the determination of normal consistency, setting time and plastic strength of cement paste, the density of grouting mortars, their water separation, plastic viscosity, static and dynamic shear stress, and the consistency of mortar concrete mixes, mortars characteristics - the compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength of adhesion to the base, characteristics of concrete - compressive strength, shrinkage and creep deformation. The studies suggested the appropriate theoretical basis for the use of admixtures, the chemical nature of which is able to provide compatibility in the system "alkaline cement - chemical admixture", and examples of its experimental confirmation.
