Aim of the study - to investigate the state of reproductive function and hypothalamic-pituitary-reproductive system in men diagnosed with thyroid cancer after surgery and radioiodine treatmenti. Methods of the study - ELISA and radioimmunoassay methods for determining hormone levels, morphological and biochemical methods for sperm investigation. Mean concentration of pituitary hormones in male patients with thyroid cancer before and after operative treatment was not significantly different from that in the control group and within the normal levels. Short-term failure of the thyroid gland has surveyed expressed negative impact on testicular function. Changes in sexual function, observed in patients are similar to those with subclinical forms androgendeficiacy and mainly related to mental disorders component copulative cycle. Average concentrations of total and free testosterone levels in men with thyroid cancer treatment did not differ significantly from similar parameters of control group, mean estradiol level was significantly increased. After the first course of radioiodine therapy averages total and free testosterone levels are within the normal values, and average levels of estradiol significantly increased in patients after radioiodine therapy course. Investigation of sperm morphological parameters examined in patients with thyroid cancer found spermatozoones reduce mobility and leykospermiya.
