It was established that the composition of proteins from cold-acclimated and not-acclimated T. molitor larvae had not significant differences, but it was found low-molecular-weight protein with molecular weight of approximately 10 kDa in cold-acclimated insects. The SDS-electrophoregrams analysis showed that the homogenates from non-acclimated T. molitor larvae had the two protein bands with m. w. of 227 and 208 kDa, that were absent in cold-acclimated insects. In addition, cold-acclimated insects had significantly more protein with m. w. of 78 kDa. The qualitative composition of low-molecular-weight protein-peptide substances from T. molitor larvae had challenged during cold acclimation according to gel-permeation chromatography analysis. The use of dehydrating polymer PEG-6000 has allowed indirectly to establish the presence of conformational changes of T. molitor larvae proteins during cold acclimation, that it was found the amount of precipitated proteins from cold-acclimated insects was more than those from non-acclimated T. molitor larvae. The increase of the PEG-6000 concentration from 2 to 20% increased the content of protein in sediments, obtained from homogenates as from cold-acclimated larvae as non-acclimated.
