The aim and the purpose of the research are compliance of national legislation in the field of measuring and developing of the technical competence criteria for gemmological laboratories. The main objectives for the first stage of the research are analysis of national legislation documents in the field of measuring and determining the range of measurement procedures and other rules and regulations which are subject of standardization. Expected results of the research are methods of basic criteria application for the establishment of technical standards and equipment for gemmological laboratories according to EU requirements.
