Restriction of operation resource of turbine as a whole is predetermined by service life of this assembly which details worked in conditions of the raised deterioration. Wear-resistant coatings on the basis of nitrides of some metals, deposited on the nitrogenized steel surface of details, allow to increment term of their service. However, the vacuum-arc method of coating deposition it has turned out to be unacceptable for its use after "furnace" nitriding. For increase of an operational resource of the details entering into a construction of the turbine steam distribution block and representing a pair of friction, process of modifying of surfaces of working details with use of vacuum-arc method is developed. This process is realised in a two-phasic work cycle: ionic-plasma nitriding + the subsequent deposition of a protective coating on the basis of MoN and TiN. For working out of optimum complex process of hardening of the modified layers the complex of examinations of physical performances of these layers is executed. Dependence of some physical properties of the modified samples (microhardness profiles on depth, and also structural features of the nitrated layers and coatings) depending on parameters of developed process is in details explored. Parameters of the laboratory processes of modifying of a surface of breadboard models of the details are specified, allowing to gain optimum working performances. Are explored tribological performances of the modified layers. Comparative laboratory researches of abrasive and corrosion resistance of samples are executed. Substantial improvement of these performances of details with the modified surfaces in comparison with details without the specified processing is shown.
