A comprehensive testing was carried out for the CDI unit using various aqueous solutions, including model solutions simulating liquid radioactive waste. To prove the high efficiency of the developed CDI unit, a comparative testing was carried out using the CDI modules developed by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL, USA) and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL, USA. The CDI modules for the testing were provided by Campbell Applied Physics (USA. It is shown that the specific sorption ability of the developed CDI unit is much higher than that of the provided American analogs and equals to 18 mg of NaCl per 1 g of carbon material that is at the level of the best world samples.
