Aim of work: research of historical, theoretical and practical aspects of social work with the certain categories of population in up-to-date Ukrainian society. Research methods: qualitative and quantitative analysis of documents; descriptive, historical, comparative, logical generalization, structural-functional. The results of Research work are inculcated in an educational process in courses "Social work in community", "Modern experience of conscious paternity forming", "Organization and methods of volunteer work", "Methods of social work", "System of organization of social services", "Social prevention". The results and novelty: identifying and working with students and lonely people from the suicide risk group; implementation of the suicide prevention program; implementation of the training program to overcome the state of loneliness among students; scientific work of students which contain practical recommendations for the solution of important problems of social work; the thesis of teachers of the department, the work for the degree of Candidate of Sciences. The effectiveness of the implementation: it includes indicators of well-being of internally displaced persons (IDP), reduction of uneasiness and activity. Application area: educational (forming competences of future specialists in social work); volunteering (working with internally displaced persons that is aimed at their social and psychological adaptation; spiritual (work with lonely people, particularly with people of suicide risk). Prognosis suppositions related to development of research object. Social work development trends are mortgaged by conditions of social life of personality, community, society. While they will keep the signs of crisis and requirement of substantial improvement, social work (her theoretical and methodological instruments, practical tools) focused rather on providing minimum of acceptable standards of life level and quality of life of certain strata of population by application of concrete instruments of overcoming of difficult life circumstances, than on general sublimity of level of public welfare.
