Short-rotation plantation of fast-growing trees was created at Danylivska experimental station together with the Institute of Forestry in Kharkiv region, which includes 16 clones of poplar and 4 clones of willow. In the Botanical Gardens of the NAS of Ukraine the collection of fast-growing trees under irrigated nursery was established, which includes 21 clones of poplars and 10 clones of willows. The most productive clones were selected in field and nursery conditions. The heat values for biomass of different tree clones were determined and the calculations of energy-efficiency for short-rotation plantations were carried out.
