Study Purpose - Formation of trait and specific collections based on the gene pool accessions and breeding material derived from them; identification of sources of valuable traits of cereals, legumes, groat and oil crops; creation, with their involvement, of new valuable starting material; and expansion of genetic diversity. Study Methods - conventional methods for determination of protein, oil and starch contents; technological characteristics, gliadin patterns in polyacrylamide gel, infrared spectroscopy, gas chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance. The results of biochemical and technological tests on accessions were transferred to the NCPGRU for further certification and classification of the collection material in terms of biochemical and technological parameters and to other divisions for targeted use in breeding for quality. Novelty. New accessions of different crop both with increased and decreased protein, starch and oil contents in seeds were selected. They are recommended to use in breeding. New soft wheat varieties and lines with high technological and baking properties, typical soft wheats with pastry qualities, durum wheat accessions with good macaroni and baking properties were characterized. The effectiveness of implementation of scientific results is determined by increase in the efficiency of breeding of such crops as wheat, millet, sunflower due to inclusion of starting material with certain reliable values of quality traits in hybridization schemes. The study results enable detailed description and certification of accessions from the National Center for Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine in order to forma and maintain collections.
