The research aim was to identify creation patterns and identification of sources and donors of valuable economic traits in crops in the Southern Forest-Steppe of Ukraine, formation and registration of basic, core, Trait and special collections. The aim involved solving a number of tasks: introduction and quarantine inspection of new valuable accessions from collections of the National Genebank of Ukraine; investigation of the gene pool for valuable economic and breeding features; identification of the gene pool accessions by morphological, physiological, biochemical traits; selection of sources and donors of economically valuable characteristics; provision of research facilities with standards, sources and donors of valuable traits; formation and registration of the gene pool collections and certain unique collection accessions in the NCPGRU; provision of research and education institutions of Ukraine and other countries with information on the plant gene pool. The total volume of the collections of Ustymivka EPPS is 28,750 accessions of 133 crops and 472 botanical species of the National Arboretum "Ustymivkyy." The collection was enriched with 4,310 gene pool accessions. 1,317 accessions of 71 crops from 27 countries were quarantine- tested. The study of 7,113 accessions highlighted 1,719 sources of valuable economic and breeding features. 434 gene pool accessions underwent expert evaluation. 17 accessions, 4 collections and databases of potato genealogies were registered in the National Center. Image databases describing collection material (about 2,500 units) and information databases of the study results on over 8,000 collection accessions were created. Research institutions of Ukraine used 180 accessions from wheat, buckwheat, maize and potato collections in research and breeding programs. Based on these accessions, a number of varieties, hybrids, breeding lines, synthetic populations, etc were created. Sample collection. NIU in research and breeding programs to use collection of. Wheat and sugar maize, 2 sugar maize hybrids and 2 maize lines (starting forms) were entered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine; soft winter wheat varieties bases on the gene pool collection accessions of the Station - ; in the Register of the Russian Federation. Users got 8,333 accessions. 105 articles, 103 abstracts, 3 classifiers, 2 catalogues, 12 booklets, author's summaries as well as scientific newsletters, bulletins, etc were published. Within the Research program "Plant Genetic Resources" cooperation with over 40 Ukrainian and foreign research and education institutions is maintained. The scientific and technical products obtained from this project (collections, accessions, catalogues, databases, etc.) are new material, which has no analogues in Ukraine.
