The study purpose was to create conceptually new starting material and, on its basis, high-yielding, resistant to biological and abiotic factors maize hybrids belonging to different ripeness groups (FAO 190-320) with harvest low moisture content in grain and economically sound seed production. To elucidate mechanisms of genetic determination of quantitative traits in maize lines, using the above starting material. Study Methods - breeding, genetic, phytopathological, statistical. 16 maize hybrids were transferred to the state variety trials in 2011-2015; 5 - according to the schedule; 11 - over and above the schedule. The funding source for the creation of hybrids is the state budget. 21,268 accessions were investigated in a breeding nursery during 2011-2015. Screening of breeding and collection material identified accessions with valuable morpho-biological characteristics, high combining ability, resistance to bio- and abiotic factors. The creation of a database of maize lines was continued; 500 collection were described in detail. In addition, 60 inbred lines were certified in compliance with UPOV descriptors, a working database was built up. The formation of trait collections is under way. The sterile form nursery was enriched with 930 accessions for transforming into sterile forms and imparting restoring ability. During 2011-2015, 87,000 self-pollinations and nearly 22,000 crosses were conducted. 18,300 hybrids were investigated in the control nursery; 6,370 hybrids - in preliminary variety trials. 556 hybrids completed competitive trials for the last five years. In 2015, over 200 hybrids bred in Kharkiv underwent environmental trials in seven locations in different regions of Ukraine. Biochemical parameters (protein, fat, carotenoid, starch contents) of grain quality were determined in 198 lines and 254 hybrids. The study of maize lines by the trait "water-yielding of grain in the process of ripening" was continued. Intra-line polymorphism of the parameter "harvest grain moisture" in major parent components of hybrids bred by the Plant Production Institute nd. a VYA Yuriev NAAS was explored. Genetic analysis of productivity and its components, morphometric parameters of plant development in the system of regular crosses of inbred maize lines was conducted. Few dozen inbred lines with valuable economic traits, which became the basis for the creation of four trait collections of lines maize by productivity, ear length, kernel row number, 1000-grain weight were registered in the National Center for Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine. 255 tons of seeds of parent forms were produced in 2011-2015; the hybridization plots for the period was almost 9,000 hectares. Over the past five years, we published 177 works. These are 22 articles in core editions, 9 in non-core editions, 3 in foreign journals, 27 abstracts, 44 patents on hybrids, lines and utility models; 9 guidelines, 2 manuals and 48 copyright certificates on lines and hybrids. Over these five years, 182 demonstration trail were organized in different regions of Ukraine. 203 hybrids bred in Kharkiv were presented there Product Description popup.authors Барсуков Ігор Петрович Деркач Ірина Борисівна Козубенко Леонід Васильович Музафаров Наіль Мініярович Понуренко Сергій Генадійович Сікалова Олена Валентинівна popup.nrat_date 2020-04-02 Close
