Purpose of the project is to ascertain the nature, evolution, modifications of genre and poetics of memoirs, biographical and autobiographical literature. In the process of study we analyzed the theoretical, historical and literary research in the field of documentaries, the nature and speciality of the memoirs genre, biographical and autobiographical prose, developed their genre system based on modifications of the late XX - early XXI century, outlined poetics, individual characteristics of documentary works of Ukrainian authors, correlated documentary works of Ukrainian writers with the best ones of foreign authors, forecast development prospects in the national nonfiction literature. Scientific novelty of study consists in the fact that the authors succeeded in confirming the concept according to which the non fiction literature is a metagenre formation rooted in antiquity lies. Each of the areas of documentaries - memoirs, fiction biography, autobiography - has its own genre system that is finally formed at the turn of XX - XXI century. Memoirs have the following genres: epic, novel, story, short story, feature article, essay, literary portrait, diary, notes, notepad, letter, obituary and autocomments. Fiction biography includes novel, story, short story, feature article and essay. Autobiography is represented by novel, story, article, essay. The latest documentaries substantially expand the idea of its poetry where the key criteria are a real hero, a specific time-space, an original composition with the portrait as an important element, original storyline and plot, artistic means depending on the individual style of the writer. In a globalized conditions documentaries are gradually replacing pure fiction in the literary process.
