Chuiko Institute of Surface Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Basing on the hydrolytic copolycondensation reaction, there was developed a one-step method of depositing functional layers on the surfaces of planar ceramic membranes. A number of methods was used to study the morphology and composition of the active layer, including SEM and EDS analyses, infrared spectroscopy and water contact angle measurement. It was demonstrated that the proposed synthesis technique allows controlling the porous structure of the surface layer during the formation and aging of the silicasol and its transition to gel, by varying the ratio of reacting components, the nature of the solvent, and the drying mode. It was determined that such functionalized membranes are able to reject copper (II) ions during the filtration of diluted solutions, due to the complexation of the amino groups from selective layer with these ions.
