The aim of the study is the development of scientifically based proposals of improvement the quality and competitiveness of products of cattle- and poultry breeding for increase food security of the population of Ukraine, development of markets for these products and solving social and environmental problems in the countryside. Theoretical and methodological basis of the study are the fundamental works of leading domestic and foreign researchers of agricultural markets, the legislative acts of Ukraine, regulating the economic relations in this sphere. The study used the following methods: analysis, synthesis and scientific abstraction (in the refinement of basic economic categories of scientific research), comparative and statistical analyzes (for an analytical evaluation of the determination of the current trends and patterns of development of markets of products of cattle- and poultry breeding), method of correlation-regression analysis (the identification of influence factors on the quality and competitiveness of products of cattle- and poultry breeding), calculated-normative method (in the justification of the basic indicators of development of cattle- and poultry breeding of Ukraine in the future), method of mathematical modeling (in forecasting the development of markets of products of cattle- and poultry breeding). The value of these results is the generalization of the theoretical aspects of competitiveness of livestock products, evaluation of current status of production of cattle- and poultry breeding products in agricultural enterprises of Ukraine and determination the factors that affect the competitiveness of these products. The basic indicators of development of cattle- and poultry breeding of Ukraine depending on the level of incomes of population are substantiated. The need in investment resources for perspective is determined. The results of the study can be used by Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, local executive authorities and departments, enterprises in the process of formation and regulation of markets of products of cattle- and poultry breeding.
