Purpose is an experimental studies of dielectric losses in diamonds and diamond-like materials such as CVD-diamond, silicon doped with gold (Si: Au), ultra-pure single crystals of silicon carbide (SіC), at a wide range of gigahertz frequencies and temperatures to identify the relative contributions of different components of dielectric losses, especially those related to defects, impurities and non-diamond inclusions. The original measuring stands for studying resonant processes in open resonators and a low-temperature radio spectrometer with a resonance cell in the form of disk dielectric resonator on whispering gallery modes were developed by the authors. In accordance with the work plan, carried out a further modernization of the millimeter-wave radio spectrometer. In particular, were made the PC-controlled EHF oscillator on the frequency range 100-144 GHz. and was made the calibration. The software to control the generator was made also. The equipment for the temperature measurement to use a new thermal sensor TTR-G in the temperature range from 0.3 to 300K was produced . The disk dielectric resonators of new samples and CVD- APJ- diamond, Si; Au, SіС were made with optical precision. The dielectric properties of the new samples at low temperatures were studied. The basic physical mechanisms responsible for microwave losses in such materials were established on the basis of the results obtained and phenomenological modeling. There are no analogues in Ukraine . The results are of scientific and practical importance, since clarify the mechanisms of dielectric losses in diamond-like materials, and can help manufacturers improve the technology of production of these materials.
